Wellness Visit

We encourage annual wellness visits at our clinic in order to review growth, development, chronic issues, school concerns, and immunizations. This is often required when we are completing sports physicals, camp/school forms, or refilling chronic medications. Below is the recommended wellness schedule and what to expect at each visit.

Newborn

  • Weight/jaundice check
  • Immunizations: Hep B #1 if not given at birth

6-8 week old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • Immunizations: RotaTeq #1*, Prevnar #1, Pediarix #1 (Hep B #2, DTaP #1, Polio #1), and Hiberix #1

4 month old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • Immunizations: RotaTeq #2*, Prevnar #2, Pediarix #2 (Hep B #3, DTaP #2, Polio #2), and Hiberix #2

6 month old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • Immunizations: RotaTeq #3*, Prevnar #3, Pediarix #3 (Hep B #4, DTaP #3, Polio #3), and Hiberix #3
  • Flu vaccine becomes optional*

9 month old

  • Growth and developmental check

12 month old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • CBC screen for anemia
  • Immunizations: MMR #1, Varicella #1, Prevnar #4

15 month old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • Immunizations: DTaP #4, Hiberix #4

18 month old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • Immunizations: Hep A #1*

2 year old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • MCHAT screen
  • Immunizations: Hep A #2*

3 year old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • Blood pressure check
  • CBC/Urine checks start yearly depending on insurance

4-5 year old

  • Growth and developmental check
  • Blood pressure check
  • Yearly CBC/UA depending on insurance
  • Immunizations: MMRV #2, DTaP/Polio #5
  • These vaccines are required prior to starting Kindergarten.
  • Vision/hearing screen at 5yo visit

6-10 year old

  • Growth check
  • Blood pressure check
  • Yearly CBC/UA depending on insurance

11-12 year old

  • Growth check
  • Blood pressure check
  • Yearly CBC/UA depending on insurance
  • Immunizations: Tdap, Menveo #1*, and Gardasil #1*
  • Tdap is required prior to starting 7th grade.
  • Consider cholesterol screen

13-15 year old

  • Growth check
  • Blood pressure check
  • Yearly CBC/UA depending on insurance
  • Immunizations: Gardasil #2* or #3*

16-17 year old

  • Growth check
  • Blood pressure check
  • Yearly CBC/UA depending on insurance
  • Immunizations: Menveo #2*, Men B #1*

18 or older

  • Growth check
  • Blood pressure check
  • Yearly CBC/UA depending on insurance
  • Immunizations: Men B #2*

*Recommended – but not required.

Some of our physicians will continue to see children over 18 years of age if they remain on the parent’s health insurance. Each of these decisions is on a case-by-case basis, often based on the patient’s current health issues and if a pediatrician remains the best doctor to serve your young adult.
